______________________________________________________________________________
House Bill 147 amended OCGA 20-2-1185 (e)(2) to require every public school to
conduct an “Intruder Alert” drill by October 1 of each school year. This drill is for
students, school administrators, teachers, and other school personnel based upon
guidance from the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency.
To help school districts prioritize these new requirements, the following Bulletin is
hereby issued:
¶6
All schools are permitted to substitute the required Fire Drill for the month of
September to conduct the mandatory “Intruder Alert” Drill. All drills are still required
to be reported via the Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire’s reporting
