How the library is built.
We want you to trust the data. Here is exactly where it comes from and what we do with it.
Where the data comes from
Official state insurance department sources only. We do not use third-party copies or resellers.
How often we check
Every day. When a source changes, we fetch the new version and keep the old one.
What we keep
Every version, with the date we fetched it and a SHA-256 hash of the content. Nothing is thrown away.
What we never do
We do not paraphrase the law. We do not serve NAIC model text. We do not scrape sources that are fenced off.
How citations work
Every fact carries the exact quote and its position in the official text. You can open the source and find the same words.
Corrections
We append corrections. We never quietly rewrite a page. If we get something wrong, tell us and we will fix it in the open.
Documents from restricted sources
Some states let us show the official document but not host the full text. For those, we show the facts and link straight to the source. This is how a restricted document renders (example: Texas).
“An insurer shall acknowledge receipt of a claim not later than the 15th day after the date the insurer receives notice.”
